Kwab Asamoah Opens "Kustom Looks Clothier" in Accra.

Award-winning US based Ghanaian designer, Kwab Asamoah has finally opened his first shop in Accra. Kustom Looks Ghana, located inside the A&C Mall in East Legon,  has been opened to the general public to allow them enjoy top class handmade suits and garment made not for just anybody but their body, as the clothier’s tagline implies.

As the President and CEO of Kustom Looks, Kwab Asamoah is the tailor to some of the most prominent African American political and business leaders in the Washington area. He has managed to create a stellar reputation in the fashion industry that has his competitors taking notice. In less than six years, he was able to expand a meager custom apparel business operating from his home to a thriving and dynamic fashion corporation. Today, his all-natural hand tailored custom suits, manufactured in his exclusive Bangkok factory, start at $695 and can range upward of $3,500.

His loyal clientele numbers in the thousands around the world and include national politicians, broadcasters, ministers, athletes, head of states, and business professionals. In 2010 he was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his outstanding contribution to the business and fashion industry.

According to Kwab, Kustom Looks Ghana will operate in the same manner as in the US. Clients will be able to select from 3000 fabrics that will be available to them from Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and the UK. The items will still be manufactured in the Bangkok factory and shipped directly to Ghana. All items will be individually hand sewn and customized to each person.

He adds that he is trying to capture the same market in Ghana as in the US; that is, the working professional who values quality and fashion. “There are numerous individuals who travel outside of Ghana in order to purchase high quality garments. Our goal is to circumvent this process by opening a store directly in the country. So hopefully these individuals will not have to travel outside of our country in order to find quality clothes.”

Kwab is currently in Accra and available to take measurements and orders from shirts to suits, and other accessories for both men and women. According to the designer, Ghanaians should expect high end fashion at an affordable price. “They should expect the highest quality product made with the best workmanship coupled with excellent customer service.”

REGENT RANKED 3RD BEST UNIVERSITY IN GHANA

In the 14th edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, Regent University College of Science & Technology is ranked 3rd best university in Ghana. It came after Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (ranked first) and the University of Ghana, Legon (ranked 2nd). The ranking considered the global performance of the universities based on indices including, teaching commitment, international prestige, community engagement, knowledge and technological transfer. It also considered website based variables such as number of potential web authors, open access mandates and technological focus.

On the international scene, judging from the global rankings, it is quite evident that the Ghanaian institutions will have to double up their efforts in order to be counted among the best institutions in the world.

Asem Allegedly Rapes & Impregnates 17 Year Old Girl

Rumours in the entertainment industry will not cease circulating as long as the ladies continue to follow the guys who are making it big in their own fields of endeavor.

Asem and his Lynx entertainment team seem to be enjoying some hype from the media field due to what they have been doing behind the scenes lately. There is a picture on the front page of this week`s issue which has Eazzy and Richie the beat maker exchanging rings as husband and wife. The truth is still being investigated for our loyal readers.

Asem was also part of that rumour which had some musicians smoking like nobody`s business in a nite club in South Africa. The latest scandal to hit him according to our investigation is a 17-year-old Senior High School graduate called Queenie who has accused Asem of drugging (doping) and having sexual intercourse with her in the process. This information started knocking on our doors since November last year but the identity of the said lady was not known so our patience in breaking that particular story.

Now Queenie has come out openly to confirm the story to Flex newspaper because she feels Asem wants to make her a fool since she thought Asem would have been kind enough to come to her aid when she became pregnant after the incident, even though the pregnancy is no more. Flex newspaper asked Queenie why she decided to hide the pregnancy issue out of the public eye until today and this was how she responded to the question. “I liked Asem as a music star so I decided to visit him at his Achimota residence one day as a friend.

When I got to his house, he gave me a drink and before I knew I was feeling dizzy in the process. I thought I was just feeling sleepy naturally so I allowed myself to sleep. I only woke up and realized that my virginity had broken with blood on me. That was when I knew I had been raped. I could not tell my mum who happens to be a teacher in a Senior High School since she would not have taken it kindly. I only went to the Maamobi Polyclinic and the doctor told me I was pregnant. I told Asem I was pregnant but "he did not mind me till even now, though I hid it from my mum,” Queenie told this paper.

To present a balanced story, this reporter reached Asem on phone to inquire from him the truth in the allegation leveled against him by the lady. Asem told Flex newspaper that she knows of a lady who is threatening him with this issue but she would not disclose the name until further notice.

“As far as I am concerned, I have not impregnated any lady nor drugged any lady before. I will leave everything to my new manager to handle the issue,” Asem told this writer in a phone interview.

As the issue unfolds, Flex newspaper will delve deep into the allegations to bring all the necessary details associated with the story.

The two hip-life artistes have come under media as well as public criticism . It is difficult to comprehend what exactly is happening but silky-voiced singer Kwabena Kwabena has denied ever smoking cigarettes despite that fact that there is a photograph of him having a cigarette stick stuck within his fingers and thick smoke puffing out of his nostrils.

The musician denied the smoking allegation in an interaction with Okay FM's ace broadcaster, Abeiku Santana, moments after the photos started circulating

Indeed, public opinion has remained divided over the issue. While a section of the public have accused the media of delving into Kwabena Kwabena's private life by putting the photos out, another section say they find nothing strange about the fact that the musician smokes. One might ask? ..... is a big deal for them to be caught smoking. Are criticc morally upright to judge them? .....hmmm

Daddy Lumba is My Favourite Ghanaian Artiste – Kojo Antwi

Afro-pop music maestro, Kojo Antwi, may have surprised many listeners recently when he said that his favourite artiste in Ghana was Daddy Lumba. He was speaking in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Peace FM.

When he asked who his favourite artiste in Ghana was, Kojo Antwi answered: “I know my answer will come as a surprise to many people. My favourite artiste in Ghana is Daddy Lumba. He explained further that he chose Daddy Lumba as his favourite artiste because he has contributed in many ways to the musical heights he himself has attained.

According to Kojo Antwi, the standard of artistry and musical genius of Daddy Lumba has motivated him to work harder as an artiste. However, he made it clear that he does not regard Lumba as a challenge to him because they play different styles of music. He settled on ‘Aben Wo Ha’, one of Lumba’s hit albums, as his best album, among the chains of albums Lumba has under his belt.

Kojo Antwi is generally considered as Ghana’s most internationally accomplished and recognised artiste. He is a Kora Award winner and a BET honouree. Daddy Lumba is also largely regarded as Ghanaians most prolific and time-tested artiste with over 25 albums to his credit. The long standing debate as to who remains supreme among the two in Ghana’s poplar music circles has created an appearance of rivalry between the two musical giants. But apparently the artistes involved do not see it that way.

According to my sources the “4Play” actress delivered peacefully on the hot afternoon of Friday December 17 2010. Pregnant Juliet was last spotted at the Ghana Movie Awards Nominees Release Party, which took place at poolside of the Golden Tulip Hotel on Friday, November 26, 2010.
Juliet got married earlier this year to her longtime lover Kwadwo Safo Junior, son of Ghanaian inventor and leader of Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo in a low profile and brief ceremony which took place in Accra between the two families and a couple of invited friends.
Kwadwo Safo who is a young Ghanaian pilot and Juliet now Mrs. Safo are the freshest parents in town.

Mimi goes ‘Bald’ ahead of her clothing line launch

Big Brother Africa star turned singer, Mimi continues to spring out surprises as she was spotted with her boldest look yet! The singer has cut down her hair almost to her scalp! However that would not be the only fashion statement from the ‘Divalish’ one this new year; she is expected to launch her own clothing line later this year.

According to Mimi she is ready to launch ‘Divalish Fashions by MIMI’ on February 12 at a ceremony that would combine music and fashion for charity at the Galaxy Lounge of the A&C Mall. The event will open with a display of clothes, music CDs and items for sale at 9am. The clothes on sale would include dresses that Mimi wore only once for her music video shoots, her gowns for the 2010 Ghana Music Awards and other events all for charity. “I have a lot of clothing that I can’t repeat in my wardrobe and it would be a nice to sell these dresses for charity”, comments Mimi.

Later in the evening, there would be a fashion and music show to outdoor the Divalish Fashions line. With performances from Mimi and supporting artistes like Efya, Okyeame Kwame, Bertha, Melody, Chemphe and others, the stage would be set for the unveil of Mimi’s creations. Mimi will unveil her special collection called ‘Celebrity Wear’ which would be modeled on the runway by her fellow Big Brother Africa stars Tatiana (Angola),Sheila (Kenya), and Uti (Nigeria); and other celebrities like 4×4,VIP,Efya and many others.

Some of the proceeds from the sales would go into supporting the less privileged in the Northern Regions of Ghana.

Olubunmi Akindebe : Queen of Hearts
